Ex WWE star CM Punk has caused a stir among wrestling fans after appearing to tease a return to the ring.

The Chicago born star sent out a tweet, aimed at fans asking if he had been “in’.

“In” was seemingly a reference to the upcoming super-show “All In’, being organised and self funded by Cody Rhodes and the Bullet Club on September 1.

The venue has not been confirmed, although it is rumoured that the show could take place in Chicago, which sparked wild talk that Punk could make his wrestling return in is home state, after a four year absence.

However, the straight edge superstar quickly quashed these rumours with a second tweet, claiming “in” was reference to his baseball team, the Chicago Cubs.

Punk and the Young Bucks are known for trolling the fans in the past, just last week, the pair had a Twitter exchange leaving fans wondering whether the current UFC athlete may return after all.

The ex-WWE Champion, who held the title for 434 consecutive days between 2011 and 2013, left the company in January 2014, claiming he’d never wrestle again.

The 39 year old told Colt Cabana on his podcast “Art of Wrestling”, that he could have died after being misdiagnosed by WWE doctors, who claimed he was fine, when he actually had a staph infection.

He also stated that he felt “sick and hurt, sick and tired, and burnt out”.
