Dog Laws – The Debate Continues


“It doesn’t seem real that our little Archie Bum has gone to heaven and our little Daniel is in intensive care because of a tragic, tragic incident involving a dog attack.”

So said the parents of four month old Archie Darby, who was killed by their aunts Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog in Colchester in October.


The debate about changes to law regarding dogs have accelerated over the past three years, with an increase in the number of deaths related to dog attacks. While laws have changed substantially, the argument of whether enough has been done to train dogs and prevent further attacks rolls on.

UK Power Networks fined £1million after Essex jogger killed by 11,000-volt cable

UK Power Networks have been fined £1million after a jogger died after running into a low-hanging 11,000 volt cable in Essex.

Drug research scientist James Kew, 41, was electrocuted after running into the high-voltage cable which had come down to head height on the footpath he was running on near Newport.

Keen runner Dr Kew, who lived in Ashdon near Saffron Walden, was on a regular Tuesday night training run for the Saffron Striders’ Running Club when he was killed instantly from the shock, which gave him severe burns.
